Do I have to be Lutheran — or Christian — to come to camp?
No. Sugar Creek is an ELCA Lutheran camp, and we welcome children, families, and groups of all beliefs and backgrounds.
What that looks like in practice
Faith is woven into the camp day — campfire worship, Bible study, faith stories from staff and campers. We don't hide it or water it down. But no camper is pressured, quizzed, or singled out for what they believe or don't believe.
Campers come to us from congregations across the Midwest, from families with no church connection at all, and from schools and community groups renting our facilities. All of them get the same welcome.
For retreat and rental groups
Groups booking our conference center — including businesses, schools, family reunions, and weddings — set their own agenda. Faith programming is available if you want it and entirely optional if you don't.
Still have questions? If you're unsure whether Sugar Creek is the right fit for your child or your group, call us at (608) 734-3113 or email [email protected]. We'd rather talk it through than have you guess.
